I opened my own law office in 1989, The Law Firm of Andrew Lavoott Bluestone. During that period I have tried both plaintiff and defendant cases, in general negligence, commercial litigation, medical malpractice, attorney malpractice [both plaintiff's and uninsured defendants], as well as real estate matters, landlord-tenant matters.
I have been appointed a Guardian, Conservator, Mediator, Guardian ad item, Referee, Receiver, and other fiduciary positions by Supreme Court, New York State. I have been a Small Claims arbitrator in Civil Court, New York and Kings Counties. I have argued more than 40 Appeals in the Appellate Division of Supreme Court, and have been lucky enough to have argued in the Court of Appeals.
My attorney malpractice litigation practice is extraordinarily interesting, as it covers so many areas:
- Real estate
- Medical malpractice
- Underlying attorney malpractice
- Insurance issues
- Debtor-creditor issues
- And so many others
I was appointed Chairman of the Legal Malpractice Examination Committee and became a member of the Board of Governors of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. I am a Diplomate, and Board Certified in Legal Malpractice. This year I received a Private Pilot License from the FAA.
I have written in professional journals [Def.Assn.NY], the Brooklyn Bar Assn Journal, PLI, and have lectured three times in CLE settings: NYSTLA, NYS Bar Assn and PLI.
