The Second circuit has asked the Court of Appeals to answer a question concerning the Lynrd Skynyrd band http://www.skynyrd.com
and its former member Edward King. The band’s website tells us that he left in 1975. He hired attorneys to seek his royalties, and did so by contingent retainer. A question now arises whether the contingency covered past and future royalties, or only past royalties, as well as a question of client ratification of an unconscionable attorney fee.
