Loyala University Law School is presenting its 4th Annual National Civil Trial Competition. This year it is based upon legal malpractice arising from a wrongful criminal conviction.
The fact pattern is that defendant attorney refused to present a “planted” gun defense. After conviction the arresting officer was himself convicted of planting a gun on someone else. In New York one must be able to present evidence of acquittal or actual innocence in order to proceed.
The competition starts in November. Harvard, Georgetown , Northwestern and a slew of other law schools will compete.
